I got home from work, and I saw this in my driveway.

Okay, not this exact picture (this is one from Google,), but the car I found in my driveway was the same as the one pictured. A 2009 Jeep Liberty, 3.7L V6, auto. It's my sister's. Don't ask me why, or tell me what should have been done, because I didn't even know this was going to happen. Hell, my mom isn't home from work, and she doesn't know this happened.

Now that's out of the way, I want to make the best of this situation, so here's the question. What is the towing capacity of this Liberty? I've been looking around, and I've heard anywhere from 3500 to 5000 pounds with the Automatic version going to 5000 pounds because of their gear ratios. Oppo's who know towing, or possibly have a Liberty, do you know what the towing capacity is? I'm trying to find it in the owner's manual, but I can't locate the manual at the moment.

Now, lets step into the hypothetical situation here. Say, the Liberty in the driveway pulls 5000 pounds. Can I haul a Miata?

As for right now, I am glad to say, I now have a project car. More to come with that.

I got my first car back from my sister, which is now my project car, and I have a car which could possibly tow stuff in my driveway. I'm +2 here. Not like I bought this car or have to drive it :D.

.. I'd imagine 5000 pounds is more then enough for a Miata, lol

Well, it would be for the miata, the trailer, and anything in the car, and I don't know if the 3.7 V6 auto is rated for 5000lbs or 3500lbs.

I'd imagine it'd be under 5000, I mean..it's a Miata after all...as long as your trailer is also Miata sized, and not like, a camping race trailer, lol :) and I have no idea.. I don't want to think about towing yet, though I do need to..as I want a truck to DD..that can also tow my Z..

Edmunds says 5,000 pounds for both 4x4 and RWD.

3500 might be for the older Liberty.

Please tell me it has the gigantic SkySlider sunroof.

My Dad has a Ram with that engine, and it's only rated for 3750.

Haul 10,000 pounds with it, blow up the trans, crush it. Done.
